i'm Xon. I'm a Y2k-inspired artist based in California.
My mission: to connect with others using art.
1: xonn+ - Stray Cat Blvd.
This video was came from a random idea i got when seeing someone's retro-looking vlog on another
site. if you're curious it's from a guy named dimwit. it's not as
long and not nearly as well done, but i had a lot of fun trying to capture some random
and noteworthy moments in my life.
I've considered doing another one for next year. Guess we'll see.
2: Zalay - GACHIAKUTA FAN OPENING || ガチアクタ ファンの開口部
This video came from @zalayz08 on Instagram.. Even if i don't have a good record of all the videos i've seen, this is undoubteably one of the coolest videos i've seen all year. its style and flow resonates with everything i like in cartoon/anime style media.
I've had serious thoughts about returning to animation thanks to this video.. and i might just commit to it.
3: Dokatzo - SONIC+ - Episode 01 (Sparring)
This video came from @dokatz0 on Instagram.. As a Sonic fan i couldn't help but eat this up. The models are the embodiment of something I could only imagine official Sonic content having. The animation itself also is very solid and looks like something that if given its own music and voice acting could have been in a cutscene for an official game in the 2000s.
Considering this episode entails more to come, this is a great hook to a potential series, and i cannot wait for more.
4: MajorLink - The Legend of Zelda Hero's Purpose: Episode 6
This video is made by @MajorLink on YouTube.. I've been starving of anything with as much scale and grandiose as A Hero's Purpose, and this is everything I could have wanted for this series. The video's game-ripped assets and graphics, though a bit dated does not at all hinder the watching experience, or the climactic action that takes place. Link and Ganon's inner turmoil with the concept of predestination really adds to their character. Above all of the action, nostalgia and suspense, I love Link's personification most. Link's in-game 'silent protagonist' persona is broken in this series, giving him his own thoughts, emotions and sentiments. His love for those he met along his journeys is displayed here, and it really makes me wish we got to see this in official games.
There's a lot of buzz on the new Zelda movie in development, but if i'll be honest.. i don't think i need a Zelda movie; i've got it right here.
5: Megan Karau - Art & Animation Reel 2024 + 2025
This video is made by @Megan Karau on YouTube.. I've decided to include a mutual's video on this list and Megan's was the perfect choice. Her vibrant and sherbert-esque artstyle really speaks for itself and translates perfectly into animation. Another person whose skills beckons me back to animating..With what she's got, the future's looking bright on her end. Definitely give her stuff a watch!
